Welcome

Below you can download copies of my teaching materials (presentation, documentation, notes etc.) that I use for any workshops or lectures that I teach, as well as any informal presentations that I may give related to my research. Feel free to grab these even if you aren't from my institution, just make sure anything I say is applicable to your own course guidelines!

Literature Review and Referencing Workshop

PRESENTATION: How to Utilise Quotations for Maximum Effect (.PDF Format)

ANNOTATED WORK: Annotated Dissertation / Annotated M.Sc Literature Review (Both .DOCX Format)

I have annotated sections of two of my past pieces of academic writing to highlight some of the methods I have used to form my argument and structure the document. Hopefully these will be of benefit for those struggling with how to go about writing their dissertations or similar.

Research Progress Presentation Series

PRESENTATION #1: Schematically Disruptive Game Design: An Introduction (.PDF Format)

This first progress presentation was given to fellow researchers at Portsmouth and was a comprehensive introduction to my research, summing up what I had been working on during the first four months of my Ph.D.

UDK Workshop Series

TUTORIAL #1: Introduction to UDK 3D Asset Creation and Mesh Importing (.PDF Format)

This is the first in a possible series of workshops that I am running to introduce (primarily) first year students to working with the Unreal Devlopment Kit.

This tutorial intorduces the asset pipeline, considerations for working with UDK, and the import process for a simple static mesh.

Welcome

Any artwork not polished enough to be considered Showreel-worthy will be placed here. Usually this will be works-in-progress, or work that was intended to be a test of some technique or tool I was considering using elsewhere.

Assorted Concept Sketches

These are a selection of concept pieces created for a final year concept art unit. Each piece was based on a certain preset theme, including Post-Apocalyptic Samurai, Aztecs on Mars, Psychedelic Gangsters and Cyberpunk Wizards. No, I'm not sure where our lecturer got those ideas from either...

Each piece was created by combining original concepts with various real-world and fantasy-based research and existing artwork.
